Credenza,” which in Italian means both a cupboard and one’s belief. It’s a series of furniture in stained glass that is inspired by the windows of holy sites as the ones created by Gerhard Richter for Cologne’s Cathedral.

The meeting between an antique sacred inspiration and its reinterpretation in the form of the design is well reflected in the production process of the collection. “Credenza” – characterized by contemporary patterns, colours and materials – is produced in Italy by skilled artisans with the ancient craftsmanship technique of stained glass, generally used for the architectures and the decorations of the churches.

In the design of the Hayama Cabinet, the Japanese influence is immediately evident.
Like a Haori, the traditional Japanese jacket worn with a kimono, Hayama is characterized by the same formal cut which plays on volume and subtraction. The legs, oblique in relation to the main structure, are the distinctive element of this simple and elegant sideboard. Apparently minimal, its solid form is accentuated by thinned edges that lighten its appearance. Hayama has two doors and transparent glass shelves inside.

“For this product I wanted to go on a journey, simplifying while playing on strong geometrics, to dialogue with Kazuhide Takahama’s Japanese style for his Bramante and Antella furniture.”

The storage space balances on two intersecting planes of wood that form a cross-shaped stable base. This Patricia Urquiola creation comes in a varnished walnut veneer or lacquered orange finish. The veneer model features blue and green doors, while the walnut is used for the panels on the orange design.
